Summerguard - Copper Based Algaecide 5L
A Copper based Algaecide, effective treatment for up to 6 months (with maintenance dosing) which will assist in the prevention of algae formation. Add this product at the start of the season and again at the mid-point of the swimming season to offer maximum protection from Algae
Summerguard is used to maintain good water quality in private and public swimming pools by preventing and inhibiting algal growth.
Instructions
- Ensure bathing has ceased before applying the product.
- Adjust pH to 7.2
- If algae is present prior to application it is recommended this is cleared before application.
- To clear the algae, shock dose with unstabilised chlorine shock.
- Run filtration for 24 hrs
- Add product directly to circulating water.
- Maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6
- Bathing can resume after one full turnover of the swimming pool water, typically 4 hours.
- Always ensure bathers are out of the water when adding chemicals.
- Never mix with any other chemicals including cleaning products, weed killers and chlorine products, as a dangerous reaction may occur.
- When emptying water from the pool ensure copper levels have dropped to 0.4 mg/L.
Dose at the rate of:
1 litre of Summerguard will treat 6,700 litres (1474 gallons) of pool water to obtain 1mg/L (ppm) of copper. Check copper levels regularly with a copper test kit and top up with the product when the reading has reached 0.4 mg/L (ppm) to a target reading of 1mg/L (ppm) copper. It is recommended to add a “top up” dose of Summerguard around July or mid-winter at 4 litres per 50,000 litres of water.
Storage & Handling
- Store in a cool, dry place away from other chemicals.
- Do not mix with other chemicals.
- Always wear suitable gloves and eye protection when handling chemicals.
